Linda Nicholls has had over 50 visitors stay with her and her family in the beautiful village of Pniel near Stellenbosch since she first took me under her wing in 1993 in my first year as overseas player for Coronation Cricket Club. Pniel is a unique family community made up of previously named 'Cape Coloureds' and is a must-see for those visitors who want to meet real South Africans in their home environment. Linda subsequently became Chairwoman of Tourism for the whole valley which has breathtaking scenery and is surrounded by mountains and wine farms on all sides.

Located 3 miles from Pniel on the R45 Paarl - Franschhoek Road, Groot Drak is a favourite for dozens of touring cricket teams and is a must if you'd like to enjoy some superb hospitality including a good old fashioned South African braai (barbecue). Groot Drak has a great bar and an outdoor pool and welcomes visitors from the 'mud island' - the UK.
